The Rules
Click here for the Terms and Conditions. We know you won’t read them but we’re counting on you to be a decent person.
Failure to follow the rules will result in a warning or a temporary/permanent ban, depending on severity.
Here are the rules you actually care about:
-
Everyone may submit an event, as long as it’s language-related and starts in Leuven. Please refer to the Make an Event page for more rules and tools. You can also share other events which fit this description (ask first).
-
Make sure your response to events reflects reality: it’s a sign of respect toward the hosts who might have to make reservations in order for the event to go smoothly. If your event had zero answers, you’d probably want to cancel it!
-
Do not use AI-generated images and/or text in events and chats. This group is made by humans, for humans.
-
Whether during live meetings or online chat, only give constructive feedback if requested. Unwanted and/or aggressive feedback is demoralizing and against the spirit of the community.
-
This group is highly diverse in terms of nationalities, gender and orientations. As such, any sort of hate speech and/or discrimination will not be tolerated. Silence is also complicity: please report any problem to an admin.
-
This is not a dating group: do not flirt during events. We remind you that sexual harassment, which includes unwanted advances, is punishable by law. If you experienced sexual assault, you can contact the Sexual Assault Center. If you feel unsafe, please contact the Local Police.
-
No spam; please report any you see. Be careful before clicking on any link.
-
No promotion of services or events unrelated to languages. Please ask an admin (see the Team tab) for authorization before sending anything.
-
No disinformation. You can share things, but be prepared to have to prove them.
Attending events
Most events are simple get-togethers at a café to have a chat, just like you would do with regular friends. There are usually no planned topics; the conversations tend to grow organically.
You’re kind of the shy type? Don’t know what to say? Visit our Tips page to find topics and questions you could bring up!
However, anything language-related which starts in Leuven goes (see rules for more details). We have for example gone for day trips to Rotterdam or Aachen! You can find pictures here.
