Introduction

Welcome to Leuven Language Buddies, a website that connects language learners and native speakers for events, both physically in the vicinity of Leuven and virtual (over various platforms). By using our website and making an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.

Eligibility

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a valid email address
• Agree to comply with these Terms
• Provide accurate information about yourself when creating an account or participating in events.

Account Creation

To create an account, you must:

• Fill out our registration form completely and accurately;
• Choose a unique username and password;
• Verify your email address by clicking on the link sent to you after signing up; and
• Agree to these Terms.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree not to share or disclose them with anyone else, except as necessary to participate in events.

Event Participation

When participating in an event:

• Follow all instructions provided by the event organizer;
• Respect other participants and their languages and culture;
• Refrain from any behavior that is illegal, harmful, offensive, or disruptive; and
• Comply with our Community Guidelines (see below).

We reserve the right to remove you from an event if your participation does not align with these Terms.

Community Guidelines

To ensure a positive experience for all users:

• Be respectful of other languages and cultures;
• Refrain from spamming or promoting commercial interests;
• Keep conversations focused on the event topic; and
• Report any inappropriate behavior to our team.

Content Submission

When submitting content for an event:

• Ensure that your contributions are original and do not infringe upon others’ intellectual property rights;
• Comply with applicable laws regarding copyright, trademark, and other proprietary rights;
• Do not share copyrighted or licensed materials without permission; and
• Keep in mind that we may remove any content deemed inappropriate or violating these Terms.

Intellectual Property

We respect the intellectual property of others:

• We do not claim ownership over user-generated content;
• You grant us a limited license to use, modify, reproduce, and display your submitted content in the context of Leuven Language Buddies; and
• If you believe that someone has infringed upon your intellectual property rights, please contact our support team.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Leuven Language Buddies harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of:

• Your use of the platform;
• Any breach by you of these Terms; or
• Any claim that your submitted content infringes upon someone else’s intellectual property rights.

Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for:

• Damages resulting from any errors in our website, services, or event listings;
• Losses caused by the actions of other users;
• Infringement claims related to user-generated content; and
• Any damages

Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:

• By providing written notice to the other party;
• If you breach these Terms or our Community Guidelines; or
• For any reason we deem necessary.

Upon termination, your account will be closed, and you must cease using our platform.

Governing Law

Belgian courts in the district of Leuven are valid for disputes over these Terms and Conditions

Changes to the Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time by posting updated terms on our website.

By using Leuven Language Buddies, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not accept these Terms, please refrain from using our platform.
